NEW 3D GIZMOS AT THE CET FARE IN LASVEGAS

The 3D platform has literally gone to the next level and the rate of its evolution is simply awe inspiring. TV makers are continually coming up with better and innovative designs and makes of the 3D TV sets which are catching everyone’s eye for once. The recent CET convention in the early 2011 for once had people in much enthusiasm.

The 3D technology had made its grand debut at the CES 2010. It was widely launched with much fan fare. This year at the CES 2011 Sony, Toshiba and the others have presented 3D TV sets minus the requirement of 3D glasses. Sony and Panasonic last year had presented these HD TV sets which if viewed using 3D Glasses showed pictures in 3D.

These TV sets used the active-shutter glasses. The likes of Samsung and Vizio also followed with models of their own. This year has seen some of the TV makers sticking to active 3D technology while at the same time there are those like LG and Vizio that are opting for passive polarized 3D technology to be used in their TV sets. The rapid change in the 3D TV technology is bound to get better with time and soon the common household will also have access to the three dimensional features. As of now however one would do good to remember that the competition is not heavy.

The 3D TV sets are pretty expensive and people on a mass scale aren’t going for them. 24.7 million 3D TV sets were available in the United States itself for the taking. But then, of these only a measly 3.2 million were sold.

It does come as a surprise that although the 3D platform is yet in its early stage, and the mass consumers are yet to come up with a tremendous demand for its, TV manufacturers are already differentiating between the two technologies that are available to show 3D in. one is Active and the other being passive. Active-shutter technology has two HD images that are projected from the screen.

The glasses here operate on batteries and end up creating a 3D stereoscopic effect. The passive technology has polarized lenses which are the same as the ones that we wear in the theaters. Here each eye only sees every other line of resolution and eventually the images in 3D. But then the active technology is told to be much better than the passive technology as it offers much superior picture quality. The catch however is that they are also much expensive.
